Police officers have arrested the former guitarist for the rock band Turnstile in Maryland, where he is accused of attacking his former bandmate’s father and breaking his leg.

Brady Ebert, of Silver Spring, Maryland, is charged with attempted second-degree murder in connection with the Sunday, March 29, attack, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

After Ebert, 33, began fighting “with his 78-year-old neighbor in the neighbor’s driveway,” he allegedly crashed into the man with his car, breaking his leg on March 29, police said in a Thursday, April 2, news release.

In a statement provided to WBAL, the band confirmed that Ebert attacked lead singer Brendan Yates’ father, William Yates, following alleged threats Ebert made over the last several months.

“Brady went to the house of Brendan’s parents and used his vehicle to run over Brendan’s father, causing severe physical trauma,” the band told WBAL. “We are grateful that Mr. Yates survived, has successfully undergone surgery, and we’re hoping for the best possible outcome in his recovery."

"We have no language left for Brady,” the band added.

Ebert’s defense attorney, Andrew Alpert, declined a request for comment from Us Weekly on Friday, April 3.

Ebert was an original member of Turnstile and helped establish the band, which is from Baltimore, WBAL reported.

Following the attack on William, Ebert was accused of fleeing William’s driveway in his car, according to police.

Police said William had multiple serious injuries in addition to a broken leg.

Ebert’s car was ultimately found empty “with front-end damage” in Burtonsville, where it was towed to a police station, according to authorities.

Ebert was seen crashing into William on local surveillance footage reviewed by investigators, police said.

He was arrested two days later in his neighborhood on March 31, according to the department.

The attack on William unfolded while William was outside his home with his daughter and grandchildren, according to charging documents obtained by the New York Times.

That is when he saw Ebert in his car driving toward his house and blaring his horn, the documents say, according to the newspaper.

William told authorities that he threw a rock at Ebert’s car in an attempt to get Ebert “away from his family so they could all get into the house,” the newspaper reported.

After Ebert crashed into William, he allegedly drove near William’s daughter and his 3-year-old grandson before he left the area, authorities said, the New York Times reported.

Turnstile said in the statement to WBAL that band members “cut ties with Brady Ebert in 2022 in response to a consistent pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community.”

“After exhausting every available resource to support his access to help and recovery, a boundary ultimately had to be set when healthy communication was no longer possible and he began threatening violence,” the statement also said.
