Kristin Cavallari opened up about her former stepmom's strong reaction to her joining the season 2 cast of Laguna Beach

She said her dad Dennis Cavallari's ex-wife threatened to move out if Kristin continued filming the MTV reality show

Kristin then claimed the former couple got into a "nasty fight"

Not everyone was happy about Kristin Cavallari’s decision to film Laguna Beach.

On the Tuesday, Jan. 6 episode of her Let's Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari podcast, the 39-year-old reality star opened up about her former stepmother Nicole King’s reaction to her time on the MTV series.

“I talked about my stepmom a lot in my [application] packet, and I talked about how I didn't like her, and she was closer to my age than she was my dad, and which, okay, hi. I know I cannot judge that now, but at the time, I judged it,” Cavallari explained. “And I really, I talked about how much I disliked her.”

The mother of three said that when her stepmom read her application packet things went south.

“I remember Nicole grabbing my packet, literally grabbing it out of my hands in high school during, you know, the whole casting of it all, as I'm in the process of filling it out, grabbed it out of my hands, you guys,” Cavallari claimed. “Read it, obviously saw what I said about her, and she was p-----. Rightfully so. I get it. But she always, because of that, she always had this hate for MTV, this complete disdain.”

The situation came to a head when Cavallari had to decide whether or not to sign up for season 2 of the show, of which she was the star.

“She actually threatened to leave when the second season of Laguna Beach was happening,” Kristin claimed. “She told my dad that if I did the second season, she was gonna move out. And my dad said, ‘Then get the f--- out.’ ”

Cavallari, who has been open about her estrangement from her dad, Dennis, added that the dispute got “a bit more intense,” claiming, “It was a really nasty fight that I witnessed between them.”

As a result, Cavallari noted, “Anyways — without getting into too much detail about that — so she always hated MTV, and I think kind of hated me because of it.”

When asked for comment by PEOPLE in relation to Cavallari's podcast statements, King said, "I honestly do not have anything to say. What was said does not reflect the truth. I care about my stepdaughter and wish her the best."

PEOPLE also reached out to Dennis Cavallari for comment on Kristin’s claims but has not heard back.

In recent years, Kristin has gone “no contact” with her developer dad, discussing her decision with PEOPLE back in June.

"I mean, honestly, and this might sound messed up to some people, but it's the best decision I've ever made, cutting my dad out of my life. Such a weight has been lifted from me," she said. "There's not one day where I miss him. I don't know if it was two or three years ago, but I mean, I was an adult, let's say I was 35 [when I decided]. It was 35 years of buildup to that point."
