Taylor Swift's 'Reputation' turns 8, but when are the vault tracks coming?
Eight years ago, the old Taylor Swift couldn't come to the phone, so the new Taylor answered with fangs out.
The singer's sixth album, "Reputation," turns eight Nov. 10, and the singer recently said its highly anticipated vault tracks aren't coming "anytime soon."
The revelation came during her Oct. 7 interview with Roula Christie on "The Roula and Ryan Show"(104.1 KRBE in Houston), where Swift was promoting "The Life of a Showgirl."
"So many Swifties were waiting for the Taylor's Version of 'Reputation,' because you add songs from the vault to the rerecords," Christie said. "So what happens to those? Does that mean your 13th album will be called 'The Vault'?"
Now that Taylor Swift owns her masters what's next for "Reputation (Taylor's Version)"?
Swift quickly redirected the chat back to her 12th album.
"This is so funny," she said. "We just had a new album come out, and I am so in that moment. This album is so fun, and it matches my life and where I’m at completely. What I would invite my fans to do is just be here with me. Be here with me on this album, because this album is fantastic and we're all having so much fun."
Christie pressed further, teasing that fans were already speculating about "12 doors" and hidden QR codes, Easter egg clues that something else might be in the works. "This is exactly what's happening," the broadcaster joked. "'Life of a Showgirl' is out and people are like, 'OK, she's already working on something else.'"
Swift held her ground. "Trust me, I love their passion," she said. "You have to understand how much 'Reputation' has pleasantly surprised me over the years. When that record came out, I loved it so much, but it just got thrown into a fire. It was 2017. It was a really crazy moment for me."
She paused, then added what amounted to a long-awaited confirmation: "There's nothing coming from 'Reputation' anytime soon, I will tell you that."
That single sentence underscored Swift's confidence in her timeline. As she's often noted, she plans her projects years in advance and if she operates on the Grammy submission cycle, "Showgirl" will likely be her only release eligible before the 2027 awards. That means the next major rollout could arrive in late 2026, when her self-titled debut album turns 20. A rerecorded "Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version)" could become a nostalgic centerpiece for 2028's Grammy season, leaving room for "Reputation" vault tracks to emerge closer to its 10th anniversary in November 2027.
But nothing has been confirmed.

'Big Reputation'
Fans clamored for two years hoping the announcement of "Reputation (Taylor's Version)" would come on the Eras Tour, similar to "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" and "1989 (Taylor's Version)." A leading theory on social media was she would release it in 2025, the year of the snake in the Chinese Zodiac.
But Swift's comments suggest patience will be a virtue.
In May, Swift shocked fans by revealing she had purchased all her master recordings, music videos, films and unreleased songs, including "Reputation." In a handwritten note on her website, she said she decided not to rerecord her sixth album after several stalled attempts.
"The 'Reputation' album was so specific to that time in my life and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it," she wrote. "All that defiance, that longing to be understood while feeling purposely misunderstood."
Swift hinted that the vault songs — which she described as "fire" in her 2023 Time magazine person of the year interview — might surface later, if fans are "into the idea." She said any future release would come from a place of celebration, not longing.
The distinction matters. When "Reputation" first dropped in 2017, it was a response to betrayal, public scrutiny and the toxic churn of fame. The imagery was dark and unapologetic, "a goth-punk moment of female rage," as she told Time in 2023. "It's a moment of being gaslit by an entire social structure." Over time, though, that darkness has aged into one of her most indelible statements. Songs like "Delicate," "Don't Blame Me" and "Getaway Car" have become fan favorites. Once mocked for its venom, the album now feels prophetic of a canceled star who turned public outrage into bulletproof armor.
Eight years after its release, "Reputation" has achieved what it couldn't in 2017: redemption. In her "Miss Americana" documentary, Swift asks her publicist about Grammy nominations for the album.
"As of now, it's not nominated for any major Grammys," her publicist said.
"I just need to make a better record," Swift replied. But seven years later in her letter, the singer-songwriter acknowledged, "It's the one album in those first 6 that I thought couldn't be improved upon by redoing it."
