Texas State and Louisiana players fight on the field after Ragin' Cajuns' win

Texas State and Louisiana players got into a fight on the field after the Ragin’ Cajuns 42-39 home win on Saturday night.

As teams met on the field after the game, you can see that punches were thrown and at least one helmet was swung by a player in the skirmish.

The fight will assuredly spur penalties and possibly even some suspensions during the week from the Sun Belt Conference. After the game, Louisiana coach Michael Desormeaux said that it was ā€œclasslessā€ by Texas State players.

Texas State defensive end Tymere Jackson was called for an unnecessary roughness penalty for a kerfuffle as Louisiana was kneeling the ball to end the game.

ā€œIt pisses me off the way the game ended,ā€ Desormeaux said. ā€œI thought that was complete classless on their part. After the play when we’re trying to kneel the ball it starts there and continues all the way up the tunnel and I think there’s no room for that in college football.ā€

ā€œI think we’ve been playing these guys for 13 straight years, never had anything like that happen. It’s embarrassing. And now we’ve got a locker room full of guys who are pissed off after a game they just won because of this bull crap after the game. So yeah, I think that’s a really crappy way for a good game to end — a great football game to end.ā€

Texas State coach GJ Kinne appeared to have a different take.

Texas State head coach GJ Kinne on what happened in the apparent post-game brawl:"It was hard to tell, to be honest with you ... I was just trying to bring people up, but pretty scary, pretty dnagerous there at the end.""This continues to happen to us...CONT

"Every time we play a game, the the other team comes after us, so it's a part of it. I was proud of the guys for the way that we got away and got out of there."I asked Kinne if this has been a reoccurence. "A little bit, yeah."

Louisiana scored 28 points in the second quarter and led 35-17 at halftime before Texas State made the game close with 19 points in the fourth quarter. The win improved Louisiana to 4-6, while Texas State fell to 3-6. Both teams need to win out the rest of the season to have a chance at a bowl game.
