Oscar Isaac is walking back comments made about returning to the "Star Wars" universe.
The "Star Wars" actor, reflecting on his role as fighter pilot Poe Dameron in the franchise, once said he would only come back if he "needed another house." But in an interview with GQ as part of its Men of the Year issue, published Monday, Nov. 10, the actor called the comments distasteful.
"Yeah. That was a real likable quote. Jesus Christ," he told the outlet. "Y'know, people ask you things, you say stuff, you don’t really think about it that much."
Isaac starred in the "Stars Wars" films "The Force Awakens," "The Last Jedi" and "The Rise of Skywalker" from 2015 to 2019. The "Frankenstein" star told the outlet he'd be open to returning but was hesitant about working with Disney. GQ notes their interview took place in the throes of Disney and ABC's dayslong suspension of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in September.
"Right now I'm not so open to working with Disney," he said at the time. "But if they can kinda figure it out and not succumb to fascism, that would be great."

Mexican director Guillermo del Toro, known for his stunning dark fantasy and gothic horror films, is breathing new life into Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein."Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz round out the film's cast. Fans of the gothic lit book can see Elordi portray Frankenstein's Monster in theaters Oct. 17 and then stream on Netflix Nov. 7. Disney and ABC's four-day suspension of Kimmel was sparked by Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr's criticism over comments the comedian made about the conservative commentator Charlie Kirk's accused killer. After the comments by the FCC chair – appointed by President Donald Trump, a close friend of Kirk – station owners Sinclair and Nexstar pulled the show from the air. The move incited criticism from viewers, late-night peers, politicians and celebrities from both sides of the political aisle, who decried free speech and government overreach.

Jimmy Kimmel says his Charlie Kirk comments were 'maliciously' mischaracterized
After a few days, Disney announced that Kimmel's show would return to ABC. The company said it had suspended the show to "avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country" and because "we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive."
"We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday," Disney said.
